Sembramos y Florecemos (We Sow, We Flourish) is a bi-annual fellowship program that trains emerging leaders in grassroots organizing, healing justice, and cultural strategy.
The program launched in the summer of 2022 to promote civic engagement among young adults, with a focus on relational and cultural organizing.
We use storytelling and art making to forge deep bonds with our Semillitas (little seeds), exploring themes of identity, culture, and community. We also provide mentorship and resourcing to support Fellows in developing community engaged art and advocacy projects.

Since launching, we’ve brought together more than two dozen young people from across the RGV, and have collaborated with them to incubate impactful advocacy and cultural projects, including Never Before Zine, Rio de Muertos, and ReMade in the RGV.

Love Letters to the RGV
Taking inspiration from C. Diaz’s short film, “Quien bien ama nunca olvida,” which the filmmaker describes as their love letter to the RGV, our Semillitas created their own video love letters to the region. The Fellows were supported by members of the first SYF cohort, Camila & Cielo, who led a DIY video narrative workshop and shared their own love letters as examples.
A View from the Park
Before we can create a new world, we first have to imagine it. This series invites community members to explore a better future for the RGV by asking them, “What’s something you wish you could change for the better of the community?” A View from the Park is a collaboration between SYF Fellows, Bloom RGV, and filmmaker, Eric Vasquez.
